John & I wanted to let you know how WONDERFUL the build experience was with Glennwood. Your team kept us up to date all the time and went the EXTRA MILE always to make sure we were getting a home that they would build for themselves.

Their attention to detail, patience to find the right “trim color” or landscaper or stone piece was very, very impressive. As you know, this build was from NJ for us, but we never felt like we didn’t know what was going on or what was needed next. In particular, we had difficulties finding the right trim color that worked with the cabinets and the floor, and your team knocked it out of the park helping us find the perfect color, finding it after searching everywhere including Home Depot and Lowe’s and then having Sherwin William custom match the color. It ended up perfect – just what we where looking for. This is one of many examples of how your team made a huge difference – whether it was re-looking at the cabinet plans to ensure every detail was considered and not accepting anything less than what was needed to make the respective cabinet look right and function properly.

The weekly updates were received with excitement and peace of mind as to what happened and what to expect. Each time we did make it down here, your team reserved time for us to cover what we needed to cover & answered all our questions in person without regard for how many questions we had, or how late we went into the day – that was very much appreciated.

In 2011, my wife Barbara and I purchased a building lot for our retirement home in the Cliffs at Walnut Cove. We decided we wanted to select a builder first, as we consider that relationship paramount in building a home. We met several builders in the Asheville area and reviewed their projects and spoke with their customers. Dan was willing to invest time in helping us evaluate the lot, siting the home, evaluating architects and offering design thoughts on the home. It became quickly evident that Dan’s team builds an exceptionally high quality home and has very satisfied customers.

Dan comes from a family of custom home builders, but additionally he is a trained engineer with a passion for process and detail. Equally important, Dan is very meticulous about the selection of his sub contractors. Quality and expertise in each specific required skill is paramount. To maintain continuity of relationships, Dan will make exclusivity commitments to the best, most important, sub contractors he selects. This way, when a home project comes together, Dan is certain of the quality of work the project will receive and the sub contractor will be very familiar with Glennwood’s schedule and processes.

In addition to the high quality sub contractor team, a major strength of Dan’s team lies in the Project Managers he employs. They are all pros and expertly managed our process from start to finish.  Attention to detail is a trait that permeates all of Dan’s projects ensuring extremely high quality with fine finish work such as tile or flooring or woodwork or painting. This attitude extends to all aspects of the construction project to include essential details such as ongoing site cleanliness.

Lastly, Glennwood stands behind their homes. It has been almost four years since we moved into our home and Glennwood has been there for us if we ever have a minor problem (there have been very few) or a question about something we might want to add or change in the home.

Glennwood is an honorable, professional, detailed and very high quality custom home builder. Barbara and I could not be happier with the home that Dan, and the team from Glennwood, built for us. We consider Dan and the members of his team part of our extended family!

Overall, our experience with Dan and the Glennwood team was exceptional. There are a few things that stand out to me. First, the Glennwood team meshed really well with our architectural team, Al and Parker Platt. Dan’s insight on costs and materials helped round out the design process to help us make good decisions up front. So having Glennwood involved during the design process ended up being a real plus. Second, the quality of the Glennwood subcontractors was exceptional – especially the highly visible work like trim carpentry, millwork, cabinetry and painting/staining. That said, the stuff you don’t readily see was also outstanding – like foundation, framing and HVAC. Third, the commitment of the Glennwood people to exceptional quality, personal service and highly detailed follow up is candidly, astounding. I’ve spent three-plus decades of a career in consumer products and services and I’ve not seen much that’s comparable (“Nordstrom-level” you might say). While the homebuilding experiences of so many of our friends have resulted in strained relationships with their builders that neither party can wait for it to end, our relationship with Glennwood continues well post completion, and I speak frequently with multiple members of the Glennwood team, many of whom I consider friends. As a result, I would highly recommend Glennwood to anyone.

Having built four houses in my life, I can easily say that Glennwood was the best builder I have ever worked with. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is exceptional. Since we built our Glennwood home while living in Dallas, the integrity exhibited by Dan Collins and the rest of the team was essential. They made every effort to stay on schedule, but not if it meant a sacrifice on quality- which matched my feelings exactly. Glennwood isn’t the cheapest builder in the area, but if quality matters, they are the best.

When we were looking for a contractor to build our house we had several critical requirements; we needed a company that could handle the project for us while we lived over 1,000 miles away, one that could interpret our wishes based not only on the architectural plans but also on an understanding of our tastes as expressed in emails, phone conversations and infrequent site visits, and one that could show patience and flexibility as we inevitably requested changes as the project progressed.

Glennwood met and exceeded all of these challenges and provided us a home that had the attention to detail and the quality of finishes that, in our opinion, were over and above those of any other custom builder. Some of the more important contributions from Glennwood were helping us to select a local architect, making recommendations for an adjustment to the location of the house on the lot that we could not be present for but which turned out to be a great choice in maximizing our view and privacy, and working with us on material selection during the finishing phase. Also, working with Glennwood during construction allowed us to increase our run of panoramic picture windows, double the size of our outside patio and add a bonus room over the garage – all value added enhancements to our original concept.

Furthermore, even when the house was completed and we had moved in, Glennwood was always available to fix any issues that inevitably arise in a new house – in our minds it is this willingness to stay involved after we occupied the house that allows Glennwood to stand out from its competition and makes them the ideal choice for anyone wanting to build a quality custom home with a contractor that has always been there when needed.
